On the same day Dec 25th, we also visited another water palace in Amlapura called “Taman Ujung or Soekasada Ujung” or in English “Garden of Ujung”. Ujung is the name of an area in Amlapura town.  This palace also built by the same king  I Gusti Bagus Jelantik (1909 – 1945) Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem who built the water palace of Tirta Gangga in 1919. However this palace was also ruined by the eruption of the Mt.Agung in  1963, and the heavy earthquake in 1976.

The architecture is the combination between architecture of Bali and Europe. It is a very nice place to visit. This site is located about another more or less 5 kms from Amlapura town to the south near the beach of Tumbu village, Karangasem district.

There are three (3) gates  to get inside this palace, there are at the west-part, south-part and east-part. The main gate is at the west part, and it is called “Bale Kapal”. KAPAL means SHIP because it was built in a ship shape. To get the center of the garden from the west gate, we must descend hundreds of stair-steps. Inside this palace there are several buildings (connected with bridge) and three (3) wide pools.  In the middle of the first pool in the north, a main building called “Bale Gili” connected with a bridge to the south. In the west part of the pool, in a higher place , there is also a building called “Bale Bunder” a place to enjoy the beauty of the garden.

To enter this palace, the entrance fee is IDR Rp.3.500,- per pax and parking fee is IDR Rp.1.000 (bike).
